Mega Evolution is a new type of evolution that affects a small number of Pokemon in X and Y (see also: Mega Stones in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire). For a Pokemon to Mega Evolve, you must give a specific Mega Stone to the Pokemon. It is then used in tandem with a Mega Ring to mega evolve a Pokemon during battle.

Finding Mega Stones
Many Mega Stones can be found all over Kalos, and even more can be found sparkling on the ground after powering up your Mega Ring. To power up your Mega Ring, you must do the following:
- Beat the Pokemon League
- Go to Kiloude City by train from Lumiose Station in Lumiose City
- Complete at least one battle in Battle Maison
- Fight your rival again in Kiloude City
- Go to the Anistar City Sundial and talk to Professor Sycamore.
After your Mega Ring is powered up, these Mega Stones can be found at the twilight hour/MidNight, between the times of 8PM and 9PM, or 20:00 and 21:00. You can change the 3DS' clock to find the stones at any time if you're not available during this real world time.
Kanto Starter Pokemon Mega Stones
When it comes to the Mega Stones for the three Kanto Starter Pokemon, one will be given when you choose a starter. One more will be available at the Stone Emporium at Lumiose City - Vernal Avenue for P1,000,000 at first. This stone should be for the Kanto Starter that is elementally stronger than the Kanto Starter you chose. Increase your style by doing a variety of things at Lumiose City to lower the price. After becoming Pokemon League Champion, the third Mega Stone will be available at the Stone Emporium.
